We are actively recruiting a Board-Certified / Board-Eligible Adult Intensivist for a locum tenens opportunity in Grand Forks, North Dakota due to staffing shortages.

Assignment Overview
  • Specialty: Critical Care Medicine (Adult Intensivist)

  • Setting: ICU only

  • Start Date: April 1, 2026 (ongoing need)

  • Reason for Coverage: Provider shortage

Facility Details
  • 226-bed hospital

  • 16-bed ICU

  • Additional 8 PCU beds (overflow capacity)

  • Open ICU model (some patients managed by hospitalists)

Schedule
  • Primarily night shifts

  • 5:00 PM 8:00 AM

  • No call

  • Not required to remain in-house overnight

  • Sleeping room available onsite if desired

Patient Volume & Clinical Scope
  • Average intensivist census:

  • Procedures vary based on patient acuity and complexity

  • ICU-only responsibilities

Required Procedures & Skills
  • Bronchoscopy

  • Central line placement

  • Thoracentesis

  • Chest tube placement

  • Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS)

Support Structure
  • Dedicated ICU nursing staff

  • Respiratory Therapists (RTs)

  • No APP coverage during evening shifts

Physician will function independently overnight with strong nursing and RT support.

Requirements
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Critical Care Medicine

  • Adult Intensivist experience required

  • Comfortable with ICU night coverage

  • Proficient in required ICU procedures
