Pediatric - Adolescent Medicine Physician

Job description

The Division of Adolescent Medicine at OU Health is seeking a dedicated and collaborative physician to join our faculty. This position offers a dynamic mix of outpatient and inpatient clinical care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and academic involvement, with opportunities to tailor clinical interests within adolescent-focused populations.

Representative Duties


Outpatient Clinics
  • Provide appropriate diagnostic assessment and treatment plans as an Adolescent Medicine subspecialist in a consultation-only clinic.
  • Patient panel to include the management of eating disorder patients, medical gynecology, advanced mental health, young men s health, or any other adolescent-health focused population at the provider s discretion.
  • Opportunities for school-based and transition medicine clinics available.
  • Provide timely documentation and communication with referring providers.
  • Urgent clinic visits may be scheduled as necessary and appropriate while the provider is on inpatient service.
  • Cover other Adolescent clinic providers panels as appropriate (planned vacation, sick leave, urgent patient needs, etc.).
  • May elect to collaborate with advanced practice providers in clinic duties and patient management.
Inpatient Duties
  • Provide appropriate intervention and management of patients admitted to the Adolescent Medicine service for inpatient eating disorder treatment.
  • Provide inpatient consultations to Pediatric Hospitalists and other primary inpatient services for adolescent-specific questions, as deemed appropriate by the Adolescent Medicine specialist.
  • Role includes timely documentation, communication with other team members, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Inpatient time requirement to be split amongst providers available within the section.
  • Expectation of 1 in 4 weeks and weekends at minimum but may be adjusted based on collective agreement of providers within the division.
  • Weekend rounding and home-call to be either incorporated in clinical FTE expectations or paid at the standard moonlighting rate per OU Health.
Multidisciplinary Involvement
  • A collaborative approach with other team members (advanced practice providers, dietitians, therapists, and psychologists) is expected.
  • Participation in interdisciplinary meetings regarding eating disorder patients is required.
  • Engagement with other specialties in novel collaboration based upon the representative s interests is welcome and encouraged.
Scholarly Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision of trainees on rotation in Adolescent Medicine, including Pediatrics, Internal Medicine Pediatrics, and Psychiatry residents.
  • May also elect to supervise medical students or other learners, as desired.
  • Presentation of didactics or other formalized educational sessions will be required.
  • Involvement in research projects within the division is expected; however, level of engagement is at the representative s discretion.
Requirements: Education
  • Board-certified or Board-eligible in Adolescent Medicine
  • Board-certified in Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine
Experience
  • Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor ranks accepted
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Prior exposure to medical management of patients with eating disorders is welcome but not required
