Facility Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia Need: ORs are currently located in Tacoma General. The ORs will be moved to Hospital starting May 16th MUST be FELLOWSHIP Trained Typically 1 Surgery Patient per day - We also support a Cath/EP lab and cardiac imaging.


The Pediatric & Congenital Cardiac Anesthesiologist (PCCA) will play a critical role in the continued growth and maturation of the Heart Center. This position offers the opportunity to help build and expand a comprehensive pediatric and congenital cardiac anesthesia program within a rapidly evolving, high-acuity heart center.

Clinical Scope & Coverage

Cardiac & Congenital Case Coverage

  • Provide anesthesia care for all pediatric and congenital cardiac surgery cases, including both pump and non pump procedures.
  • Provide anesthesia support for:
    • Cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology (Cath/EP)
    • Cardiac CT and MRI
    • Non cardiac anesthesia for patients with congenital heart disease
  • Support anesthesia care for pediatric and adult patients with congenital heart disease at both facility s.

24/7 Program Call Coverage

  • Participate in a 24/7/365 call model supporting the Heart Center.
  • The on call PCCA is aligned with the Heart Center on call surgeon and interventional cardiologist and provides coverage for:
    • Operative cases, add ons, reoperations, and take backs
    • Emergency and after hours catheterization cases
    • Any off hour anesthesia needs for congenital heart disease patients
  • Ensure coverage or coordination of coverage for all congenital heart disease patients undergoing procedures within the hospitals.

Additional Pediatric Coverage Responsibilities

  • When available, assist with weekday daytime pediatric anesthesia coverage at Children s Hospital.
Provide pediatric airway emergency back up call as a third call resource when primary and secondary anesthesiologists are engaged in emergent cases.
