Local Team Collaboration:

  • Join our close-knit team of 24 physicians and 18 APPs at Frederick Health Hospital, working collaboratively with Sound Physicians' hospitalist, observation, pediatric, and critical care teams to support efficient patient throughput and maintain a low LWBS rate of less than 3%.
  • Ranked as the 3rd busiest ED in Maryland, our department cares for approximately 80,000 annual visits (65,000+ adult visits) and has been recognized as a State Top Performer in EMS offload time.
  • Accountable, on-site leadership: a local medical director who knows the community and owns the department's performance, supported by Sound's leadership-development tools.
  • Stable, well-staffed teams: cohesive teams aligned on our patient-first culture of excellence, which means less reliance on premium temp labor and more predictable shifts.

Qualification:

  • Board-certified in emergency medicine.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Scheduling:

  • Enjoy a flexible schedule that supports work-life balance and offers a variety of shift options.
  • 60 hours of clinical work to allow for completion of administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a close-knit team of 24 physicians and 18 APPs at Frederick Health Hospital.
  • For those who like to teach, we work with PA-C students from Shenandoah, Frostburg, and other local programs.
  • We prioritize the longevity of our clinicians and provide comprehensive ancillary services in the ED, including peer recovery, ED pharmacists, crisis intervention, social work, Goals of Care hospice, and case management.
  • Deliver care in a Magnet-designated hospital with fully staffed nursing, including 3:1 RN ratios in high-acuity areas, and access to robust clinical resources such as point-of-care ultrasound, an ED pharmacist, and dedicated social work/case management support.
  • Practice in a high-acuity environment with a 30% admission/transfer rate at a designated STEMI Center and Primary Stroke Center, featuring ED MRI capabilities for stroke and spinal cord emergencies.

Rewards and Compensation:

  • W2 rates with productivity incentive equivalent to $225-$295/hour days; $240+/hour nights.
