INTERNAL MEDICINE HEMATOLOGY AND ONCOLOGY

POSITION SUMMARY

The Department seeks a hematology and oncology specialist to provide dedicated breast oncology care within a multidisciplinary cancer program. The role includes outpatient evaluation and management, participation in tumor board activities, and collaboration with navigators, social workers, dietitians, and infusion nursing teams. The position supports an accredited breast program with opportunities for clinical research and a structured schedule.



QUALIFICATIONS

• Board eligible or board certified in Hematology and Oncology.
• Residency training in internal medicine.
• Fellowship training in hematology and oncology.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in New Mexico.
• Interest in providing breast oncology care within a multidisciplinary environment.
• Commitment to advancing cancer care through research and clinical innovation.



COMPETENCIES

• Ability to evaluate and manage breast cancer across all stages of disease.
• Skill in providing outpatient oncology care with multidisciplinary support.
• Effective collaboration with navigators, social workers, dietitians, and infusion nursing teams.
• Commitment to patient centered oncology care and participation in tumor board activities.
• Capacity to support clinical research initiatives and contribute to program development.



WORK SETTING & ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment: Hospital; Inpatient; Outpatient; Clinic/Private Practice
• Dedicated oncology practice within a multidisciplinary cancer program.
• Participation in weekly tumor board.
• Collaboration with comprehensive support services including navigation and infusion teams.
• Structured schedule with a four day work week and limited inpatient call.
• Access to clinical trials through regional research partnerships and systemwide EMR.
