  • Enjoy strong partnerships across the hospital, including a solid working relationship with Sound's hospitalist program.
  • Work in a stable nursing environment with excellent support-our nurses and ED staff are experienced, engaged, and great to collaborate with.
  • Benefit from a team-oriented culture where everyone works together- mutual respect and shared goals.
  • ED pharmacist and ED-dedicated case manager on site to support patient care, placement, financial assistance, and follow-up needs.
  • Accountable, on-site leadership: a local medical director who knows the community and owns the department's performance, supported by Sound's leadership-development tools.
  • Stable, well-staffed teams: cohesive teams aligned on our patient-first culture of excellence, which means less reliance on premium temp labor and more predictable shifts.

Qualifications:

  • Board-certified/eligible in emergency medicine
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Scheduling:

  • Full-time commitment as an independent contractor requires 120 hours per month

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide care at Aiken Regional Medical Center, a 273-bed community hospital with a 30-bed emergency department, certified as a chest pain and stroke center
  • Volume: 43K annual visits with 39 hours of daily physician coverage and 30 hours of APP coverage
  • Deliver emergency care at The ER at Sweetwater, a 10-bed freestanding emergency department in North Augusta, GA
  • Volume: 23K annual visits with 24 hours of physician coverage and 12 hours of APP coverage daily
  • Engage in teaching opportunities with APP students and internal/family medicine residents
  • Be part of a supportive, stable, and innovative team that genuinely cares about the community it serves

Living and Working in Aiken:

  • Enjoy the charm of Aiken, South Carolina-known for its southern hospitality, vibrant equestrian scene, and beautiful landscapes. Aiken offers a relaxed pace of life, a strong sense of community, and plenty of recreational activities. When you combine that with a workplace culture that's uplifting, not draining-where teamwork and good relationships make a real difference.
  • Opportunities to collaborate closely with colleagues, consultants, and other care team members while managing all aspects of community emergency medicine

Compensation:

  • Flexible work schedule with independent contractor status

If you're ready to bring your expertise to a collaborative, community-focused team-and enjoy coming to work each day-we'd love to talk.
