Schedule
- Option to work 4 or 5 days per week
- Typical shifts are 8 hours; may extend to 10 hours based on case volume
- Guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week
- No fixed shift schedule
Practice Setting
- Hospital-based coverage with ambulatory surgery center exposure
- Float pool position covering both inpatient and outpatient procedures
- Providers must be comfortable working across multiple locations
- No cardiac, liver, or neuro cases
Required Licenses & Certifications
- California Medical License - Required
- DEA Registration (California Schedule II Authorized) - Required
- Board Certified in Anesthesiology - Required
- Board Eligible candidates may be considered if fellowship trained
- BLS (AHA) - Required
- ACLS (AHA) - Preferred
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Anesthesiology experience
- Recent experience within the last 2-3 years managing both inpatient and outpatient surgical cases
- Recent tertiary care center experience required
- Recent solo practice experience required
- Must be comfortable independently managing operating room cases
Preferred Experience
- High-acuity patient experience (ASA III+)
- Regional anesthesia experience
- Trauma experience
- Trauma Level I experience
- Teaching hospital experience
- Experience supervising or collaborating with CRNAs
Patient Population
- Adults and adolescents (13+ years old)
EMR
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide anesthesia coverage for inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures
- Manage a broad mix of general surgical cases
- Perform regional anesthesia when applicable
- Work independently in the operating room
- Occasionally supervise or collaborate with CRNAs
- Float between inpatient hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers as needed
Additional Notes
- No outpatient-only opportunities available
- Providers must be willing to cover both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Recent chronic pain clinic or chronic pain procedure-focused practice is not considered relevant experience for this assignment
- Regional anesthesia skills are strongly preferred but not required and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis
