The Electric Estimator will play a critical role in preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. Working within a small estimating team, the estimator will utilize tools such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and specialized estimating software to analyze project requirements and forecast budgets. This role involves frequent direct client communication and close coordination with vendors, while also overseeing scheduling and managing a 24/7 crew of approximately 10 electricians. No travel is required for this position.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and material takeoffs for electrical projects
- Analyze project specifications and perform risk assessments to ensure accuracy
- Coordinate with vendors and review contracts to optimize pricing and terms
- Generate comprehensive reports and documentation for bids and internal use
- Forecast project budgets and assist in contract negotiations
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates and clarify project needs
- Manage scheduling and oversee a 24/7 crew of around 10 electricians
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in electrical estimating
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management
- Proficient in electrical systems knowledge and blueprint reading
- Experienced with cost estimating software and project management tools
- Strong vendor negotiation and analytical thinking skills
- Excellent time management, communication, and attention to detail
