SENIOR FAMILY LAW PARALEGAL - PAOLA, KS


LOCATION: Paola, KS (about 20-30 minutes south of Olathe, KS)
POSITION: Full-Time (on site M-Th, with possibility to work remotely on Fridays)
COMPENSATION: $60,000-$80,000+ annual base salary, depending on experience and qualifications, PLUS a very generous bonus structure tied to billable hours

We are a growing, established, and well-respected solo-attorney law firm dedicated to helping clients navigate some of the most important and challenging moments of their lives. Our practice focuses primarily on divorce, custody, child support, paternity, guardianship, and related domestic matters. We also practice criminal defense, estate planning, and personal injury.


We are seeking an experienced family law paralegal with experience who is highly organized, detail oriented, client-focused, self-sufficient, and capable of managing significant responsibilities within a busy practice.


POSITION OVERVIEW


The paralegal will work directly with the attorney to manage cases from intake through resolution. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in family law and be comfortable communicating with clients and other parties, preparing legal documents, managing deadlines, and keeping cases moving efficiently.


This is a long-term growth opportunity within a firm that values professionalism, initiative, and excellent client service. The ideal candidate is responsible and accountable, emotionally mature, takes pride in their work and always strives to do their best, is coachable, and has the ability to accept attorney direction consistently. While independent judgment is valued, the successful candidate will be able to work independently while recognizing that case strategy and final decisions rest solely with the attorney.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Drafting pleadings/motions, discovery requests and responses, trial preparation material, and other family law documents (e.g., domestic relations affidavits, parenting plans, child support worksheets, separation and property settlement agreements, asset/debt spreadsheets, divorce decrees, etc.
  • Managing case workflows to ensure matters move forward efficiently
  • Maintaining case calendars and closely monitoring deadlines
  • Maintaining close and frequent communications with clients regarding case updates, questions, direction/instructions, and all other matters
  • Communicating and coordinating with with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, witnesses, and other third parties about various matters
  • Assisting with mediation, hearings, and trial preparation
  • Conducting legal research and other research projects
  • Composing memorandums for attorney
  • Diligently handling collections and billing inquiries
  • Doing any and all other work assigned by attorney


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED


  • Prior paralegal experience
  • Strong organizational and case-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple active matters simultaneously
  • Experience with e-filing systems
  • Ability to maintain detailed billing contemporaneously with every task
  • Experience preparing petitions/motions, discovery requests and responses, trial exhibits and hearing material


PREFERRED


  • Experience working as a family law paralegal
  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience
  • Experience using our practice management software CLIO
