Job description

ATC West Healthcare is seeking a full-time locum OB/GYN physician to provide coverage within its hospital-owned Four Seasons OB/GYN practice due to a staffing shortage. This opportunity offers a mix of outpatient clinic responsibilities and call coverage in a collaborative, community-based setting that provides full-spectrum women's healthcare. The practice emphasizes physician autonomy, team-based support, flexible scheduling, and a balanced quality of life in southern Vermont.

Coverage Start: August 15, 2026 (ongoing, varying dates)

Practice Setting: Clinic and Call

Shift Options:

  • 8:00 AM 8:00 PM
  • 8:00 PM 8:00 AM

Call Schedule: Varies

Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 90 days

Job Details & Responsibilities Clinical Environment
  • Hospital-owned Four Seasons OB/GYN practice
  • Provide comprehensive OB/GYN care, including clinic visits, labor and delivery, gynecologic procedures, and call coverage
  • Average 14-16 clinic patients per day
  • 7-bed birth center
  • 10 clinic exam rooms
  • Cerner Community Works EMR
Practice Composition
  • 1 full-time OB/GYN physician
  • 1 gynecology physician (does not take call)
  • 1 PRN physician
  • 4 Certified Nurse Midwives who frequently take primary call
Patient Mix
  • 50% low-risk obstetrics
  • 50% high-risk obstetrics
  • 60% gynecology patients
  • Approximately 25% C-section rate
  • 3-5 gynecologic surgeries per week
  • Average 1 nursery admission per day
  • Level I nursery
Available Resources & Support
  • Dedicated medical assistant assigned during clinic sessions
  • Triage nurse support
  • Birth center nursing staff adjusted based on patient census
  • Onsite laboratory services
  • Ultrasound available in clinic and hospital (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM)
  • Access to colposcopy, LEEP, D&C, and standard gynecologic equipment
Required Skills & Qualifications Required Certifications & Licensure
  • Board Certified in OB/GYN
  • Active Vermont medical license, IMLC eligibility, or willingness to obtain Vermont licensure
  • BLS (AHA)
  • NRP certification
  • Completion of an accredited U.S. or Canadian OB/GYN residency program
  • Most recent NPDB Self-Query report (completed within 30 days and required at presentation)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clean malpractice history
Required Obstetric Skills
  • Management of low-risk and complex obstetric patients
  • Fetal heart rate interpretation (NST, CST, FSE)
  • Performance and interpretation of OB ultrasounds
  • Level I/viability obstetric ultrasounds
Required Labor & Delivery Skills
  • Routine vaginal deliveries
  • Forceps-assisted deliveries
  • C-section decision-making and performance
  • Management of complicated deliveries (breech presentations, multiples, abruptions)
  • VBAC management
  • Repair of third- and fourth-degree lacerations
Required Gynecologic Skills
  • Office procedures including IUD placement, cystoscopy, colposcopy, cryosurgery, and LEEP
  • Open gynecologic surgery
  • Diagnostic and minor laparoscopic procedures
  • Major operative procedures including ectopic pregnancy management, oophorectomy, cystectomy, and extensive lysis of adhesions
