Job description

Are you a board-certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with experience in Psychiatry looking for a locum tenens opportunity? An esteemed healthcare facility in southeastern Iowa is seeking a dedicated NP/PA to provide PRN psychiatry coverage for their inpatient behavioral health department. This position offers flexible scheduling and an opportunity to work within a collaborative team dedicated to exceptional patient care.Position Details
  • Location: Near Mediapolis, IA
  • Position Type: Locum Tenens PRN Coverage
  • Specialty: Psychiatry, providing care to adolescent through geriatric patients
  • Shift Type: Varied primarily Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (includes a one-hour unpaid lunch)
  • Weekend Requirements: None required
  • On Call Requirements: Yes, with a 1:4 call rotationJob Highlights
    • Practice Setting: Inpatient behavioral health and hospital consults
    • Patient Demographic: Ages 8 through geriatric
    • Typical Patient Load: 10-15 patients per day
    • Number of Beds: 28 adult beds, 8 adolescent beds
    • Support: Supervising physician available remotely via telehealth, when needed
    • Electronic Medical Records: Cerner
    • Trauma Level: IIIResponsibilities
      • Conducting thorough admission histories and psychiatric assessments
      • Performing physical examinations and rounds
      • Diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of psychiatric disorders, including:
        • Mood disorders
        • Psychotic disorders
        • Substance-related disorders
        • Anxiety disorders
        • Cognitive and personality disorders
        • Prescribing and managing medications
        • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies
        • Coordinating ongoing care in consultation with supervising psychiatrists
        • Facilitating addiction education and management
        • Completing administrative duties as necessary
        • Providing continuity of care and coordination for patient referralsRequired Qualifications
          • Certification: Board Certified required
          • Licensing: Iowa state license or eligibility through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) required
          • Experience: Minimum of one year in psychiatry; new graduates are not accepted for this role
          • Credentialing Timeline: 30-90 daysCompensation and Rates
            • Hourly: Standard and holiday rates available
            • Overtime and Holiday Overtime: Applicable for eligible shifts
            • Call Rates: Additional compensation for nightly, weekend, and holiday call coveragePresentation Requirements
