Job description

Locum OB/GYN Physician - Call Only Coverage New Mexico Description

We are seeking a Board-Certified OB/GYN Physician for a locum tenens opportunity in New Mexico. This is a call-only assignment providing coverage for Labor & Delivery, Emergency Department OB/GYN consultations, and inpatient consultations. Coverage may become ongoing to accommodate permanent provider time-off requests.

Coverage Dates:

  • Evening of September 16, 2026, through the morning of September 21, 2026
  • Morning of September 25, 2026, through the morning of September 28, 2026

The assignment offers a manageable patient volume, a supportive clinical environment, and the opportunity to work alongside two permanent OB/GYN physicians.

About the Facility
  • Community hospital located in New Mexico

  • Two permanent OB/GYN providers on staff

  • Hospital privileges required
  • Credentialing may take up to 90 days, with potential temporary privileges available for qualified providers

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide 24-hour call coverage for OB, ER, and inpatient consultations
  • Manage low-risk and high-risk pregnancies
  • Interpret fetal heart rate monitoring, including NST, CST, and FSE
  • Perform vaginal deliveries and manage labor progression
  • Perform and manage complicated deliveries, including:
    • Cesarean sections
    • Breech deliveries
    • Multiple gestations
    • Placental abruptions
  • Perform VBAC management
  • Repair third- and fourth-degree lacerations
  • Perform emergency and on-call gynecologic surgical procedures, including:
    • Tubal ligations
    • Lysis of adhesions
    • Chromotubation procedures
    • Ectopic pregnancy surgery
    • Oophorectomy
    • Ovarian cystectomy
    • Diagnostic and operative laparoscopy
  • Respond to patient care needs within a 20-minute response time requirement
Qualifications
  • Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Active and unrestricted medical license
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification required
  • NRP certification required
  • Ability to provide case logs for privileging
  • Successful completion of required drug screening and immunization requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred
Working Hours
  • Call-only assignment
  • 24-hour call shifts: 8:00 AM 8:00 AM
  • Weekday callback rate: approximately 10%
  • Weekend callback rate: approximately 20%
  • Coverage includes nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled (no holiday coverage currently required)

  • Surgical GYN responsibilities are on-call only
