Facility:
This facility is a well-established neurosurgery practice operating within a reputable healthcare network in the St. Louis area. The department features a 10-bed unit with a Level 2 trauma designation and provides comprehensive neurological surgery services supported by advanced practice providers and a collaborative care team.

Opportunity:
Physician - Neurological Surgery

Job Details:
  • Locum Tenens opportunity providing 1 weekend per month of coverage (Friday 7a through Monday 7a) to assist in call rotation
  • Role assists in reducing weekend call burden from 1 in 4 to 1 in 5 until a permanent position is filled
  • Surgeon departure anticipated at end of June 2026
  • Average of 20 patient encounters per shift for neurosurgery consultative service
  • Advanced Practice Provider support available on day shift (approximately 4-8 hours depending on volume)
  • APPs perform hospital rounding, first assist duties, follow-up patient visits in clinic, and a small percentage of new patient visits
  • General adult neurosurgery skills required including trauma cases
  • Tumor cases required; neuroendocrine surgery not required
  • VP shunt placement required
  • Spinal surgery with and without instrumentation required (cervical, thoracic, and lumbar levels)
  • Placement of ICP monitors required
  • Application of external traction required
  • Pediatric, neonatal, cerebrovascular, carotid/vertebral artery, aneurysm clipping, skull base, peripheral nerve, pain procedures, and endovascular procedures are not required
  • Board certification required; estimated credentialing timeframe is 60 days
  • BLS certification required
  • Must hold active Missouri license or IMLC licensure to be considered

Compensation:
Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
