Job Summary
Berkshire Mechanical is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining residential and light commercial HVAC systems and related equipment.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled technician with strong troubleshooting abilities, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining professionalism on every job site.
This role reports directly to the Field Supervisor and plays a critical part in delivering high-quality service and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Perform residential and light commercial HVAC service, repair, maintenance, and diagnostic calls
- Diagnose and repair heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems and related accessories
- Inspect equipment and identify potential issues to help prevent future breakdowns and callbacks
- Complete preventative maintenance, system cleaning, and equipment tune-ups
- Analyze and resolve customer concerns in a courteous, professional, timely, and accurate manner
- Deliver outstanding customer service while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding repairs, recommendations, and system performance
- Promote company products and services when appropriate during service visits
- Generate replacement leads and communicate opportunities to the Sales and Service Coordinator
- Deliver and pick up parts and equipment required to complete service work
- Accurately complete service tickets, forms, invoices, and required documentation using handheld technology
- Collect customer payments as needed
- Maintain communication with dispatch regarding job status, availability, and scheduling updates
- Ensure company vehicles, tools, equipment, and inventory are properly maintained and accounted for
- Keep service vehicles properly stocked and organized
- Return defective warranty parts and replenish truck stock as needed
- Follow all company procedures, safety standards, and industry best practices
- Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically at all times
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous experience servicing residential and/or light commercial HVAC systems required
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration systems
- EPA Certification preferred
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in the field
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to use tablets or handheld devices for service documentation
- Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials as needed
- Comfortable working in varying weather and job site conditions
