Job Description: Job Description If you would like to help keep the BTC campus running safely and smoothly as a Preventative Maintenance and Custodial Worker, this role might be right for you. You'll maintain and repair essential building systems and equipment, support daily operations, and respond to emergencies as well as helping create a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.Salary: $4,160 a monthPriority Closing: June 30, 2026 at 5 pmUnder general supervision, the Preventative Maintenance Worker performs preventative maintenance activities. This position performs maintenance on building support equipment such as electrical drive motors, laundry, safety, kitchen and air-conditioning equipment; change oil, grease, change or clean filters, drive belts, shafts, and bearings to ensure proper emergency or minor repairs of buildings and support equipmentOperate hand and power toolsOpen and secure college facilities to meet scheduled activitiesInspect and stock First Aid kitsPerform custodial equipment repairs, as neededPerform custodial tasks such as:Clean and sanitize restrooms/shower rooms and fixtures in accordance with established procedures and standards; refill restroom dispensersClean white boards; dust and wipe furniture; dust-mop, mop, auto-scrub or vacuum floors; empty garbage & recycling bins; replace light lamps as neededStock and maintain inventory of custodial supplies in locker/lockers in assigned areasUse and maintain assigned custodial power equipment and hand tools including, but not limited to vacuum cleaners, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets and furniture and windows. Use of auto-scrubbers, swing scrubbers, burnishers, carpet extractors, power washers, ladders and lifts may be required in workassignmentsStrip, clean, burnish, and apply finish to floors; use floor auto-scrubbers, swing scrubbers, burnishers; vacuum and clean carpets; use carpet extractor, and other floor maintenance equipmentRepairs and replaces door locks, door closures, and exit devices Organize and perform office moves, furniture moves, install cubicle partitions, keyboard trays, bulletin boards, etc.Monitor and maintain facilities buildings and grounds including additional seasonal requirements (snow & ice, flooding)Ensures the facilities are comfortable, well-managed, and a safe environment for the general public and employeesAssist with setups and special activitiesOperate forklift for Shipping/Receiving as requestedOperate various equipment in snow and ice control and removalMaintain communications with all groups through portable radios, campus cell phones, telephones, logbooks, journals, e-mail, etc.Serve as a key role in the College emergency and management response efforts; provides a "presence", either individually or with additional Facilities team members, as needed for safety issuesPerform duties as assignedRequired Skills/Abilities: Ability to follow instructions, work independently or as part of a team, and meet deadlines associated with the job Ability to communicate in writing and verbally in English with a wide variety of individuals Basic mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and grounds keeping Standard cleaning methods and equipment Ability to follow proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions Detail-oriented and thorough Ability to operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance Ability to keep the school clean and orderly Ability to interact with staff, students, parents, and visitors at school while remaining professional, polite, and courteous Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Ability to travel between locations as a part of regular job assignments Minimum Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent and one year of custodial or general maintenance workContingent upon successfully completing a job-related background check in accordance with Washington State lawPreferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of experience in a related positionPhysical Work Environment: This position performs work in an environment that requires lifting, shoving, pulling, pushing, and carrying heavy objects; periodically in inclement weather; working with strong chemicals and cleaning agents; stooping, bending, reaching and walking. Must use ladders including, but not limited to, stepladders and extension-ladders. Must have good hand dexterity; good vision, which includes good depth perception and field of vision. Must be able to follow and receive instructions and receive supervision. Must be able to have the physical ability to deal with environmental stresses, emergency situations, deadlines, a variety of duties and working alone or with others. Work environment includes wet and slippery floors and surfaces.Compensation, Work Schedule and Benefits: Salary is $4,160 a month The work schedule is generally Monday through Friday, 3 pm to 11 p.m. A regular schedule will be finalized upon hire. Candidate must be willing to work on-site for all or a portion of their schedule. This position will receive: 8 hours per month of sick leaveStarts with 11 hours per month of vacation leave24 hours of personal leave12 paid state/college holidays per calendar yearThe vacation leave and personal leave are available after successful completion of a 90 actual days worked probationary period Vacation is eligible for cash-out at the end of the assignment.
