Assignment Overview Fredericksburg, VA:
- Schedule: 3 night shifts (7P 7A) and 3 day shifts (7A 7P); must be flexible
- Start: June
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Role: Nocturnist/Day coverage
- Candidates: NP or PA accepted with active state license
- Requirement: Must live 50+ miles from the facility (no locals)
Facility Overview:
- 133-bed community hospital within the HCA Healthcare system
- Services include ICU, OB, behavioral health, and cardiac care
- 24-hour emergency department; not a tertiary or academic center
Clinical Environment:
- Moderate patient volume ( 25 000 annual ED visits)
- Steady pace with predictable peak times (afternoons, evenings, weekends)
- Moderate acuity: mix of critical cases (sepsis, stroke, cardiac) and lower-acuity complaints
- Major trauma typically transferred out
Staffing & Workflow:
- Typically 1 2 physicians per shift with APP support
- Physicians manage higher-acuity cases, procedures, and dispositions
- APPs support lower-acuity and fast-track patients
- Metrics-driven environment (HCA), with focus on efficiency and documentation
Overall:
- Mid-sized community ED with balanced acuity and steady workflow
- Less intense than large urban centers but not a low-volume rural site
