Schedule Details

Shift options include:

  • 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM
Orientation
  • 2-hour onboarding process
  • Education on Meditech and local quality measures
  • 2-3 required shadow shifts prior to independent practice

Ongoing coverage need

Setting
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Free-Standing Emergency Departments (FSEDs)
  • Hospital-based Emergency Medicine coverage
Patient Population

All ages

Admissions
  • Approximately 10% admission rate at FSED locations
Common Cases

Providers will see a full spectrum of Emergency Medicine cases, including:

  • Medical emergencies
  • Trauma
  • Cardiac emergencies
  • Respiratory emergencies
  • Orthopedic injuries
  • Pediatric emergencies
  • Obstetric emergencies
Procedures

Required procedural competency includes:

  • Intubations
  • Central line placement
  • Ultrasound utilization
  • OB deliveries
  • Dislocation reductions
  • Chest tube placement
  • Trauma management
  • Laceration repair
Department Structure
  • Each site has APP coverage
  • One Emergency Medicine physician per shift at most locations
  • No robotic systems utilized
  • Generally no follow-up responsibilities on cases
  • Performance feedback provided as needed
EMR

Meditech

Requirements
  • Emergency Medicine Residency Trained - Required
  • ABEM Preferred - FSED - Non-ABEM Accepted
  • ABFM or ABIM physicians with Emergency Medicine experience considered for FSED coverage
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required for FSED coverage
  • Family Medicine physicians with Emergency Medicine fellowship considered
  • Must be comfortable managing the full spectrum of Emergency Medicine presentations and procedures
