Job description

Hospice Medical Director - Leadership Role Greater Denver Metro

Located just outside Denver, Colorado , this is a rare opportunity to step into a high-impact leadership role at a rapidly scaling, deeply mission-driven organization.

Why This Role Matters

This is not a traditional hospice medical director position-it is a strategic leadership role designed to scale and elevate hospice services across the region .

The organization is experiencing strong census growth, but currently lacks a dedicated physician leader fully embedded in executive, board, and community-facing strategy.

What You'll Lead

You will serve as the central clinical and executive bridge for hospice operations across a regional footprint spanning Denver, Golden, Littleton, and Loveland

Key focus areas include:

  • Executive and board-level medical leadership presence
  • Quality, compliance, and CMS regulatory oversight
  • Finance committee participation and operational stewardship
  • Community and hospital system relationship development
  • Clinical oversight of physicians, APPs, and interdisciplinary teams

Clinical + Leadership Model
  • 60% Administrative / 40% Clinical
  • No RVU or productivity pressure-success is defined by leadership impact and quality outcomes
  • Oversight of 2 physicians, 1 part-time physician, and 6 APPs
  • Support for 5 interdisciplinary teams (IDTs)
  • IPU, admissions, recertifications, and complex case consultation included

Candidate Profile
  • Fellowship-trained in Hospice & Palliative Medicine with 3-5+ years of progressive medical leadership experience
  • Prior dedicated Hospice Medical Director experience required, ideally in high-acuity or community-based hospice settings
  • Eligible for unrestricted Colorado medical licensure with strong regulatory fluency in hospice care standards
  • Calm, emotionally grounded servant leader who thrives in end-of-life care environments and high-stakes decision-making
  • Collaborative, mission-driven ambassador comfortable engaging clinicians, executives, and community partners across systems

Compensation & Benefits
  • Guaranteed base compensation of $345,000 plus quality metrics bonus
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance
  • Generous PTO, holidays, and continuing education time
  • Public Student Loan Forgiveness

If you are looking to step into a high-impact Hospice Medical Director role where leadership, community presence, and mission alignment matter as much as clinical expertise , this is a rare opportunity to do exactly that in the heart of Colorado.
