Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner Locum Tenens Opportunity Northern California

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens Neurosurgery opportunity with a highly respected academic medical center in Northern California. This is an inpatient-only position supporting a high-volume spine service focused on post-operative management and care coordination.

Position Details

  • Start Date: Late August 2026

  • Schedule: 3x12-hour weekday shifts plus bi-weekly 8-hour Saturday shifts

  • No call required

Practice Setting
  • Academic medical center

  • Inpatient-only role

  • Adult patient population

  • Epic EMR

Clinical Responsibilities

Providers will support a busy inpatient spine service managing:

  • Post-operative spinal surgery patients

  • Discharge planning and care coordination

  • Inpatient follow-up care

Please note:

  • No OR responsibilities

  • No first assisting

  • No new consults

  • No call coverage

Team Structure & Volume
  • Collaborative environment with APPs and residents

  • High-volume spine service

  • Approximately patients per day shared among the care team

Required Qualifications
  • Active California NP license required

  • Board certification required (ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, or ACNPC)

  • AHA BLS certification required

  • California DEA with Schedule II authority required

  • Minimum of 2 years of inpatient experience preferred

  • Must have experience managing pre- and post-operative spine surgery patients

  • Academic medical center experience strongly preferred
