This 13-week inpatient Occupational Therapist assignment is located in beautiful Sarasota, Florida, on the states stunning Gulf Coast. Sarasota is known for its award-winning white-sand beaches like Siesta Key, vibrant arts and cultural scene, and a relaxed coastal lifestyle that attracts both visitors and long-term residents. The area offers year-round sunshine, easy access to outdoor activities on the water, and a variety of dining, shopping, and entertainment options, making it an appealing place to spend a contract.You will be working in an inpatient setting with a full-time schedule of 5 eight-hour day shifts, for an expected total of 40 hours per week. The facility provides a collaborative environment where Occupational Therapists are integrated into an interdisciplinary team focused on safe, functional patient outcomes. You can expect to manage an independent caseload, performing comprehensive evaluations, developing individualized treatment plans, and progressing patients toward meaningful functional goals.Typical responsibilities include evaluation and treatment of adult and geriatric patients with diverse diagnoses such as neurological conditions, orthopedic procedures, post-surgical care, general deconditioning, and complex medical conditions requiring inpatient-level services. You will complete timely, accurate documentation within the facilitys EMR, participate in interdisciplinary rounds as needed, and contribute to discharge planning with clear recommendations for equipment needs, home safety, and follow-up care.A typical day may involve conducting initial OT evaluations, implementing evidence-based interventions to improve ADLs, functional mobility, and upper extremity function, educating patients and caregivers on compensatory strategies and home exercise programs, and coordinating closely with physical therapy, speech therapy, nursing, and case management to support coordinated care.
