Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $4,650 - $4,980
- Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 (Blue Ridge Mountains; thriving arts scene and outdoor activities)
- Setting: Cardiac Surgery ICU, Level 1 Trauma Hospital
- Duration: 13 weeks (September 21, 2026 - December 21, 2026)
- Shift: Day shifts (07:00 - 20:00), 5 shifts per week
- Patient Population: Adult cardiothoracic patients recovering from complex surgeries
- Support Staff: 1-2 providers per shift
- EMR: Epic (Epic EMR experience preferred)
Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of critical care or cardiac surgery ICU experience
- Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) certification required
- Comfortable with high autonomy in a fast-paced ICU environment
- Strong interest or background in cardiothoracic surgery and critical care
- Ability to remain in Roanoke, VA for the full duration of the assignment
Responsibilities
- Manage adult patients recovering from complex cardiothoracic procedures (aortic surgery, CABG, thoracic and valve surgery)
- Collaborate with attending physicians and APP colleagues on advanced mechanical circulatory support (ECMO, IABP, LVAD, Impella, RVAD)
- Perform and refine critical care procedures: bronchoscopy, central venous catheter placement, arterial line insertion, chest tube management
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies and apply clinical judgment for timely interventions
- Respond to critical and emergent situations with rapid assessment and stabilization
- Focus on optimizing patient experience, satisfaction, and clinical outcomes in a cardiothoracic ICU setting
