Assignment Details
Location: Westerville, Ohio
Setting: Level III NICU at a high-delivery-volume hospital
Start Date: October 2026
Assignment Length: 26-week assignment with potential extension
Reason for Coverage: Leave of absence for permanent staff

Schedule
Full-time coverage preferred: 3x12-hour shifts per week
Part-time candidates will also be considered (6 8 shifts per month)

Shift Times:

  • Primarily 7:00 AM 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM 7:30 AM

  • Occasional off-shifts may be used for increased census and acuity coverage:

    • 11:00 AM 11:00 PM

    • 3:00 PM 3:00 AM

Coverage expectation is approximately 50/50 days and nights

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner required (PAs will not be considered)

  • Minimum 1 year of Neonatology APP experience required

Required procedures:

  • Intubation

  • Umbilical line placement

  • Thoracentesis

  • Arterial sticks

LPs preferred
Chest tube experience preferred but not required
PICC line placement not required (dedicated PICC team available)

Facility & Patient Volume

  • 19-bed NICU

  • Average daily census: 13

  • Approximately 3,000 deliveries annually

Goal staffing model includes 2 NNPs per shift, though unit may occasionally operate with single-provider coverage

Support Staff

  • Dedicated NICU charge nurse

  • NICU-trained respiratory therapists

  • Dietitian, occupational therapy, social work, and case management/discharge coordinator support available Monday Friday during daytime hours

  • Remote NICU pharmacy support provided by the main campus or affiliated delivery hospitals

Physician coverage:

  • In-house physician coverage from 7:00 AM 3:00 PM

  • On-call physician support from home overnight with additional backup call coverage available

  • Night attendings available at nearby affiliated facilities

Credentialing & Licensing
Credentialing timeframe: approximately 90 days

  • Trinity Health: 3 months

  • Nationwide: 2 months

Providers will be dual privileged for both systems
Willing to consider providers with RN compact licensure
