The facility handles a high acuity patient population, including complex adult cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries, supported by a dedicated team of surgeons and clinical staff.
Opportunity:Advanced Practice - Nurse Practitioner - Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery
Job Details:- Locums-to-Perm opportunity with a preferred 7 on/7 off schedule, Monday through Sunday
- Monday through Friday onsite coverage from 7am to 7pm; providers must arrive at 7am to attend the daily CV Surgery Morning Meeting
- Saturday and Sunday: 24-hour coverage with approximately 4 hours of onsite rounding beginning at 6am
- Temporary/emergency privileges are available
- NP or PA must have cardiothoracic experience; PAs must be proficient in endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) with approximately 500 cases or 10 years of experience
- Primary responsibilities include daily rounding on all inpatients (ICU and stepdown units), new consults, and patient discharges
- Medical management and call coverage for inpatient care, ER consultations, and transfers from outside hospitals
- Weekday call hours: 4:30pm to 6am; weekend call hours: 5pm to 5am (with rounding nurse support from 5am to 5pm on weekends to assist with first-line phone calls and orders)
- One night of call per week may be expected depending on schedule model
- OR responsibilities include EVH using HemaPro 2, assisting with open vein harvest or endoscopic vein harvesting, possible first assist on cases, and potential OR call for emergencies on weekends
- Opportunity to help train new APPs on EVH technique
- Cardiac services include all adult cardiac surgeries: CABG, valve procedures, aortic dissections, LVAD, ECMO, and Impella support
- Thoracic services include robotic surgeries, VATS, thoracotomies, lobectomies, wedge resections, decortications, and mediastinal mass procedures (no esophageal cases)
- Vascular services include all types of open vascular surgeries including CEA, AAA, and leg revascularization procedures
- High acuity patient population with 8-10 inpatient encounters per shift
- Board certification required; Indiana license or IMLC required to be considered
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
- Estimated credentialing timeframe: 30 days
