The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures to support in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires proficiency in operating imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety, upholding high-quality imaging standards, and maintaining accurate records and documentation of procedures and findings. Responsibilities for this role also include serving as a resource and acting as a lead while leadership is unavailable. Effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals is essential for providing optimal care.

Position Details:

The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures to support in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires proficiency in operating imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety, upholding high-quality imaging standards, and maintaining accurate records and documentation of procedures and findings. Effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals is essential for providing optimal care.

  • Serves as lead, when leadership is unavailable, and as an expert resource and superuser within the service area.
  • Assists in new caregiver orientation, ongoing training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Cross-trains in and proficiently operates all relevant imaging equipment, captures high-quality diagnostic images across various machines, and review and verify images for clarity and completeness before submission for interpretation.
  • Operates all relevant advanced imaging equipment with expertise and precision, captures high-quality diagnostic images consistently across various machines, and reviews and verifies images for clarity and completeness before submission for interpretation.
  • Prepares, positions, and transfers patients for imaging procedures, explaining the process, and addressing any concerns, and providing radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Administers contrast media under a physician's direction and within the Radiology Department/Health System policies' guidelines.
  • Manages and updates images and patient records completely and accurately in PACS (picture archival communication system)
  • Monitors imaging equipment for unsafe conditions and performs routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
  • Submits requests for equipment and/or technology needs and sees them through to resolution.
  • Schedules radiology examinations correctly.
  • Manages supplies levels and work with lead/leadership to resupply as needed
  • Assists with QA initiatives
  • Performs clerical duties, as needed.
  • Assists with clinical rotations, as applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program and completed required clinical hours.

Experience: One (1) year of relevant experience OR graduate of Bachelors degree program

Certification/Registration: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists-Radiography (ARRT(R ; Basic Life Support (BLS).

Licensure: State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.

• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.

• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
