Locums Neonatology NP/PA Hershey, PA (PA license or IMLC accepted)Why This Role

  • Multiple openings (4 NPs/PAs needed)

  • Schedule flexibility: evenings/nights, weekends, or 24-hour shifts
  • Locums-to-perm potential (long-term permanent search)
  • Strong support team: 20-22 RNs, 2-3 APPs per shift
  • Level IV 56-bed NICU at Level 1 trauma children's hospital
  • Penn State will consider candidates who have started PA application process
  • Assignment Details
  • Start: ASAP through December 31, 2026
  • Schedule options:
  • - Weekday evenings/nights (Mon-Fri): 4p-8a - Weekend evenings/nights (Sat-Sun): 7p-7a - 24-hour shifts any day of the week
  • Coverage type: Inpatient, no call
  • Volume: 10 patients/shift in 56-bed NICU
  • Setting: Level IV 56-bed NICU at Level 1 trauma children's hospital
  • Practice model: APPs oversee daily care of babies as the provider, in collaboration with MDs
  • Staffing during evenings/nights and weekends: 2-3 APPs per shift
  • Support: 20-22 RNs, 2-3 APPs per shift, 1 office staff
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Credentialing: 60-120 days
  • Nearest airport: Harrisburg International (MDT)
  • Orientation: 3 weekday day shifts + 2 evening/night shifts + 2 weekend shifts (paired with PSH APP for shadowing)
  • Transport orientation: 2 one-hour online courses + 45-min in-person training at Life Lion hangar
  • EMR training: 4 hour 45 min online training before first day
  • Clinical Details
  • Neonatology NP/PA coverage at Level IV NICU
  • High-acuity NICU practice - APPs oversee daily care of babies
  • Required procedural skills: PICC, UVC, UAC lines, chest tubes, lumbar punctures, intubations
  • Must be able to do ground and air transport
  • Collaboration with MD team
  • Requirements
  • Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, Board Certified (NNP-BC strongly preferred)
  • Active PA license OR IMLC accepted (Penn State will also review candidates who have started PA license application)
  • BLS, PALS
  • Active DEA
  • Must have PICC, UVC, UAC line skills plus chest tubes, lumbar punctures, intubations
  • Compensation
