Urgent Care NP/PA Needed Central Pennsylvania

Locum Tenens Ongoing Opportunity

WPA Medicine Staffing is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for an Urgent Care locum tenens opportunity in Central Pennsylvania. This assignment offers a flexible schedule in a collaborative urgent care network while providing the autonomy to practice independently across multiple clinic locations.

  • Onsite Requirement: Yes float between four clinic locations within approximately 30 miles

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine advanced practice provider who is confident practicing independently while caring for patients of all ages.

Providers will float between four clinic locations in the Central Pennsylvania region and evaluate a wide variety of low-acuity illnesses and injuries. Common presentations include upper respiratory illnesses, cold and flu symptoms, rashes, abrasions, sprains, minor burns, and minor orthopedic injuries. Responsibilities include wound care, incision and drainage procedures, splinting, and other routine urgent care procedures. Patients requiring higher levels of care will be referred to the local emergency department.

Providers will work independently while receiving remote physician support when needed. Clinics are staffed with Medical Assistants and Radiologic Technologists to support patient care.

Requirements
  • Board Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Active Pennsylvania License
  • Pennsylvania DEA
  • ACLS, BLS, and PALS Certifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of Urgent Care experience or 1 year of Emergency Medicine experience
  • Comfortable treating patients 6 months of age and older
  • Experience with:
    • Suturing, wound care, and incision & drainage
    • Splinting and minor orthopedic procedures
    • X-rays and EKGs
    • Blood draws and IV placement
    • Independent practice
  • Must reside within a 2 3 hour driving radius of the coverage area
Practice Environment
  • Epic EMR
  • Average patient volume of 3 4 patients per hour
  • Medical Assistant and Radiologic Technologist support onsite
  • One to three providers scheduled daily
  • Remote physician support available for clinical escalation
  • Float coverage between four clinic locations within approximately 30 miles
