1st Shift Forklift Operator/Skid Operator $14.75 per hour
6:30am -3pm
The Forklift Operator drives a forklift to safely move processed steel, stock, or other materials to and from storage, machines and finished goods areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate forklift to transport materials to and from storage areas, work stations, and within other areas of assignment
- Operate forklift to transport materials to and from storage areas, work stations, and within other areas of assignment
- Load, transport, unload and stack materials in accordance with established procedures
- Maintain up-to-date forklift certification
- Communicate non-compliance and/or quality problems to supervisor and/or shift lead
- Clean and maintain housekeeping of finished goods storage area
The Forklift/skid builder has a few additional job duties (see below):
- Operate an automatic saw and nail gun
- Cut / assemble wood to customer specifications
- Assemble skids as needed for various machines
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to accurately select and load material properly to meet customer and production requirements Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to read and understand material tags and work orders
- Ability to use tape measures, micrometers, and calipers
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with forklift training
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to routinely climb stairs, ladders, or platforms
- Ability to routinely bend and squat
- Ability to walk, stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to repetitively grasp Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or GED with at least 1 year of forklift experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting is preferred. Forklift certification is required.
