Position Overview

Role: Nurse Practitioner (Family Medicine or Adult/Geriatric)
Location: Malone, NY 12953
Setting: Correctional Facility
Start Date: ASAP (upon credentialing)
Assignment Length: 26 weeks, with potential extensions up to 2 years
Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:00 PM (4x10s optional)
Call: None

Compensation
  • Pay Rate: $12k+/Month
Position Responsibilities

As a Nurse Practitioner in this setting, you will provide direct care to incarcerated individuals, including:

  • Conducting physical exams and health assessments
  • Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions
  • Prescribing medications, including OUD/MAT treatment
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostics (labs, X-rays, EKGs)
  • Coordinating care with internal teams and external agencies (e.g., OMH)
  • Managing post-hospitalization follow-ups
  • Monitoring infectious disease protocols
  • Responding to emergencies (e.g., stabilization, splinting)
  • Supporting infirmary care and accommodation requests
  • Monitoring hunger strikes per facility guidelines

Patient Volume: Approximately 8 15 patients per day

Qualifications
  • Active New York Nurse Practitioner license (required)
  • National board certification (AANP or ANCC) preferred
  • DEA license required
  • BLS (CPR) certification required
  • Minimum 1 year NP experience preferred
  • Correctional experience preferred (but not required)
  • Ability to comply with all federal, state, and facility requirements
Work Environment
  • Collaborative team including physicians, RNs, and social workers
  • Facility capacity: 1,200 1,300 inmates
  • Established clinical protocols and structured patient flow
