Location: Malone, NY 12953
Setting: Correctional Facility
Start Date: ASAP (upon credentialing)
Assignment Length: 26 weeks, with potential extensions up to 2 years
Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:00 PM (4x10s optional)
Call: None
Compensation Position Responsibilities As a Nurse Practitioner in this setting, you will provide direct care to incarcerated individuals, including:
- Conducting physical exams and health assessments
- Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions
- Prescribing medications, including OUD/MAT treatment
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostics (labs, X-rays, EKGs)
- Coordinating care with internal teams and external agencies (e.g., OMH)
- Managing post-hospitalization follow-ups
- Monitoring infectious disease protocols
- Responding to emergencies (e.g., stabilization, splinting)
- Supporting infirmary care and accommodation requests
- Monitoring hunger strikes per facility guidelines
Patient Volume: Approximately 8 15 patients per day
Qualifications - Active New York Nurse Practitioner license (required)
- National board certification (AANP or ANCC) preferred
- DEA license required
- BLS (CPR) certification required
- Minimum 1 year NP experience preferred
- Correctional experience preferred (but not required)
- Ability to comply with all federal, state, and facility requirements
Work Environment - Collaborative team including physicians, RNs, and social workers
- Facility capacity: 1,200 1,300 inmates
- Established clinical protocols and structured patient flow
