Job Requirements
- Board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, or board certification in General Psychiatry with a completed Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship
- At least 1 year of psychiatry experience required
- Strong foundation in psychiatric assessment, diagnoses, treatment planning, and evidence-based treatment modalities
- Experience with psychopharmacology and psychotherapy approaches
- Experience managing psychiatric medications for children and adolescents
- Ability to work effectively with adolescents, parents/guardians, and multidisciplinary care teams
- Comfort managing challenging behaviors and using de-escalation techniques in a behavioral health setting
- Understanding of adolescent development, family systems, legal frameworks, educational provisions, and safeguarding protocols
- Active California DEA with Schedule II/II-N authority required
- BLS certification required
- All certifications must be AHA approved
Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric coverage for an adolescent patient population in a locum tenens setting
- Conduct weekday rounding, patient evaluations, and treatment planning
- Provide weekend rounding and on-call psychiatric support as scheduled
- Place admission orders for patients arriving during night call
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, social workers, and other behavioral health team members to support high-quality patient care
- Develop individualized, comprehensive treatment plans for adolescent patients
- Support families and guardians through clear communication and care coordination
- Help lead multidisciplinary discussions and guide patient care decisions
- Use therapeutic interventions and de-escalation strategies when needed
