This ongoing locums opportunity is seeking a general surgeon comfortable managing trauma patients, performing a broad range of general surgical procedures, and providing comprehensive inpatient surgical care.

Clinical Details & Responsibilities
Practice Setting:
Hospital-based acute care surgery service
Inpatient and outpatient hospital
159-bed facility
Clinical Responsibilities:
Acute care surgery coverage
Trauma surgery coverage
Daily rounding on all patients admitted to the general surgery service
Daily rounding on trauma surgery patients
Evaluation of new inpatient consultations
Emergency surgical procedures
24/7 trauma and acute care surgery call
Required Procedures:
Comprehensive general surgery procedures
Emergency general surgery
Trauma surgery
Management of acute surgical emergencies
Support & Technology
Support Staff:
Hospital inpatient clinical staff
Collaborative multidisciplinary care team

Reason for Coverage:
Coverage needed due to changes in local general surgery group staffing and hospital call coverage
Requirements
Board Certified in General Surgery - Required
Board Eligible candidates - Highly Preferred
Completion of an accredited General Surgery Residency - Required
Active Nebraska License - Required
OR
Active Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) Letter of Qualification (LOQ) at the time of submission - Required
ATLS Certification - Required
Clean malpractice history - Highly Preferred
Comfort managing trauma surgery patients - Required
