  • The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients during a designated time frame, providing care through the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the institution's philosophy.
  • Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service.
  • Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care for healthcare team integration.
  • Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs.
  • Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
  • Modifies plan of care based on continuous evaluation.
  • Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
  • Communicates directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues.
  • Offers constructive feedback to assist in professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base.
  • Identifies own learning needs and initiates appropriate solutions.
  • Fulfills all departmental competency requirements.
  • Department specific functions include providing care to inpatient obstetric patients, monitoring fetal well-being, administering medication specific to obstetric patients, providing patient education specific to obstetric population, and participating in intrapartum care of patient and newborn in labor, delivery, and surgical delivery.
    Job Requirements
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience.
  • Illinois state RN License in good standing required.
  • BLS (American Heart Association) certification required.
  • ACLS (American Heart Association) certification required.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required.
  • ASN degree required; BSN preferred.
    Schedule Information
  • Night shift.
  • Shift hours: 7:30pm to 7:00am.
  • 12 hours per day.
  • 36 hours per week.
    Unit Specific Information
  • Unit: Labor and Delivery (L&D).
  • Provides care to inpatient obstetric patients.
  • Monitors fetal well-being.
  • Administers medication specific to obstetric patients.
  • Provides patient education specific to obstetric population.
  • Participates in intrapartum care of patient and newborn in labor, delivery, and surgical delivery.
