This hospital is a leading academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center serving the greater Lansing region, offering comprehensive specialty services including a robust neonatal program. The facility features a 47-bed NICU capacity with a fully supported multidisciplinary team including NNPs, nursing staff, child life specialists, physical and occupational therapy, and dieticians, providing an exceptional clinical environment for neonatology providers.

Job Details:
  • Seeking a Board Certified Neonatologist to provide coverage from July 1, 2026 through July 1, 2027, with approximately 9 weeks of daytime coverage needed, preferably in continuous 7-14 day blocks, with the same number of night coverage weeks
  • Practice setting includes a Level III NICU and Special Care Nursery with 47 total beds (33 licensed NICU beds, 12 Special Care Nursery beds, and 2 bassinets)
  • Day shift is 10 hours; night shift is 14-hour home call with required 30-minute response time if called in
  • Average daily census of 31 patients; day shift consists of two Neonatologists splitting the unit with four providers managing patients based on census limits
  • Night shift coverage includes one attending physician supported by two in-house NNPs
  • Attend high-risk deliveries and C-sections
  • Provide ventilation management including BiPAP/CPAP, oscillator ventilator support, and Nitric Oxide (iNO)
  • Perform neonatal procedures including chest tube insertion, central line insertion, arterial line insertion, PA catheter insertion, Umbilical Venous Catheterization (UVC), Umbilical Artery Catheterization (UAC), and PICC placement
  • Manage emergency situations and participate in neonatal resuscitation
  • Potentially supervise Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs)
  • Document patient care using EPIC EMR
  • Must hold an active full Michigan license - compact and IMLC licenses are not accepted
  • Must have completed a fellowship in Neonatology
  • Must have current NRP advanced provider or instructor status (required)
  • NALS certification preferred
  • Self-Query NPDB required at time of presentation (must be pulled within the month)
  • Credentialing timeframe is approximately 120+ days
  • Hotel, mileage at IRS standard rate, and flights are reimbursed by the facility

Compensation:
Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
