Job description

Dermatology Physician Assistant

We are seeking an experienced and patient-focused Dermatology Physician Assistant to join our growing outpatient dermatology practice. This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive dermatologic care in a collaborative clinical environment while working closely with a board-certified dermatologist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and manage patients with a wide range of dermatologic conditions.

  • Obtain focused medical histories, perform physical examinations, and formulate differential diagnoses.

  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans for medical dermatology patients.

  • Conduct skin cancer screenings and routine dermatologic evaluations.

  • Perform in-office procedures including skin biopsies, cryotherapy, simple excisions, and other dermatologic treatments as appropriate.

  • Review laboratory, pathology, and diagnostic results and communicate findings to patients.

  • Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, preventive skin care, and follow-up recommendations.

  • Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

  • Respond to patient inquiries and clinical messages in a timely and professional manner.

  • Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to ensure high-quality patient care and operational efficiency.

  • Adhere to established clinical protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing medical education activities.

Qualifications
  • Current Physician Assistant license or eligibility for licensure.

  • NCCPA certification or eligibility required.

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program; Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of dermatology experience required (medical, surgical, or cosmetic dermatology).

  • Strong knowledge of common and complex dermatologic conditions and treatment approaches.

  • Experience performing dermatologic procedures including biopsies, cryotherapy, and minor surgical procedures.

  • Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

  • Excellent clinical, communication, and patient relationship skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a fast-paced patient care environment.

  • Commitment to evidence-based medicine, patient-centered care, and continuous professional growth.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with skin cancer detection and management.

  • Strong procedural and diagnostic skills.

  • Ability to build long-term patient relationships and deliver compassionate, high-quality care.

  • Experience working in an outpatient dermatology practice setting.
