Job description

Adelphi is seeking a qualified Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric services in a secure facility in Hardin County, Iowa. The ideal candidate will have adolescent/juvenile psychiatry experience, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively in a structured care setting.

Requirements
• Graduate of an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program.
• Active and unrestricted Iowa medical license.
• Board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry preferred.
• Active DEA registration.
• Experience working with adolescent or juvenile populations preferred.
• Experience in institutional or correctional behavioral health settings preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required clearance.
• Ability to complete required background screening.
• Ability to provide proof of licensure and professional liability coverage.
• Ability to comply with applicable laws and PREA requirements.

Responsibilities
• Provide scheduled on-site psychiatric evaluations, examinations, and assessments.
• Provide psychiatric treatment based on referrals and clinical consultations.
• Conduct suicide and self-harm risk assessments and provide appropriate treatment recommendations.
• Provide psychiatric medication evaluation, prescribing, adjustment, and monitoring.
• Issue written medication orders for administration and dispensation as clinically appropriate.
• Develop and document medication monitoring plans, including side effects and lab needs.
• Meet individually with youth to provide psychiatric treatment services.
• Collaborate with staff to support treatment planning and continuity of care.
• Provide consultation to support treatment planning and behavior management.
• Provide off-site consultation as needed, including during psychiatric emergencies.
• Maintain timely, accurate, and professional documentation of all patient contacts.
• Meet required caseload, clinical, and documentation deadlines.
• Comply with PREA requirements and all applicable laws, policies, and professional standards.
