Physician - Primary Care (Sign on Bonus and Education Debt Repayment) The Veterans Health Administration was seeking two experienced board certified or board eligible Primary Care Physicians for the Primary Care Clinic at the Tomah VA Medical Center in Tomah, WI. The physician provides primary care to Veterans as a full member of the interdisciplinary care team, including history and physical examinations, diagnosis, treatment initiation, emergency treatment and transfer, follow-up visits, referrals, home health coordination, documentation, and collaboration with other providers and disciplines. Maintain Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification. Serve as backup Medical Officer of the Day on a rotating basis. Function as a full member of the interdisciplinary team serving VA patients. Provide history, physical examination, diagnosis, and initiation of medical treatment. Initiate and facilitate treatment and transfer in emergency situations. Provide follow-up office visits for existing medical problems. Order and adjust diagnostic tests and medications as clinically appropriate. Refer patients to appropriate specialists and health care facilities as needed. Coordinate home health services when appropriate. Document assessments and plans of care according to policies and procedures. Act as a consultant in clinical practice and may serve as a managing or supervising physician for physician assistants. Communicate and collaborate effectively with other providers and disciplines to ensure continuity of patient care. Collaborate as a patient advocate. Maintain knowledge of new and current clinical methods. Use the computerized medical record system, including progress notes, physician orders, histories and physicals, and discharge summaries. Basic Qualifications: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited in accordance with VA policy. Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Must have a Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine. Must have a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Must have completed approved residency training in an accredited core specialty program leading to eligibility for board certification. Must be subject to a background/security investigation. Must pass a pre-employment physical examination. Must pass pre-employment drug testing and remain subject to testing requirements for this testing designated position.
