Job description

Job Description: Aquila's full-time Fitness Specialist assists members in safe and effective exercise and performs a wide range of technical exercise and administrative duties in health/fitness center.

The pay rate for this position is $23.50/hour plus personal training commissions. Candidates must be able to work 8 hour days Monday-Friday with availability to work both a 6am-2 p.m. or 10am -6 p.m. schedule on alternating days. There is no weekend work.

Responsibilities include:

Teach group exercise classes
Supervise exercise areas
Conduct personal training sessions
Educate members concerning safe exercise techniques
Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines
Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high risk participants and special populations
Aid members - spotting and equipment usage
Explain all equipment
Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment
Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures
Adhere to client's policies and procedures
Attend staff meetings
Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events
Perform daily administrative duties

Requirements

Qualifications:

B.S. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or in related health/fitness field OR Active NCCA accredited national fitness certification (ACE, NASM, AFAA, ACSM, NCSF, NSCA or other NCCA accredited certification)
Active CPR certification
At least 1 year work experience in the fitness industry
