Position Title: Registered Nurse
Unit: Surgery - Surgical Med/Surg Unit
Shift: FT Nights/ 7:00-PM - 7:00AM

The Surgical Med/Surg Unit is a fast-paced, patient-centered unit specializing in the care of post-surgical patients recovering from a variety of procedures. This 24-bed unit provides comprehensive nursing care for adult patients following surgical interventions, with a strong focus on recovery, pain management, mobility, education, and discharge planning.

Patients admitted to this unit may include those recovering from:

Colorectal surgeries
Urological procedures
Orthopedic surgeries
General surgeries
Women's Surgery overflow patients

The RN on this unit works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, compassionate care while promoting optimal patient outcomes.Unit Details

24-bed Surgical Med/Surg Unit
Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-1:6 depending on acuity
Collaborative team environment
Opportunities to develop advanced post-operative nursing skills
Responsibilities

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
Monitor post-operative recovery and identify complications
Administer medications and treatments as ordered
Provide patient and family education regarding recovery and discharge care
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case management, and ancillary staff
Maintain accurate and timely documentation
Promote patient safety and quality outcomes

The Registered Nurse serves as a leader of the healthcare team at Novant Health by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care that promotes optimal health or supports a peaceful death. The Registered Nurse utilizes best scientific evidence and compassion to assist the patient in navigating their health journey. The Registered Nurse accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures. What We're Looking For:

Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
