Job Description: Job Description Speech-Language Pathologist Killeen Independent School District Special EducationFull-Time Exempt Pay Grade: AP6 $78k-$108k+ depending on experience and contract length Killeen ISD is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our Special Education team. In this role, you'll help students with communication disorders access their education and reach their full academic and social potential. What You'll Do As a Speech-Language Pathologist with KISD, you will: Student Assessment & ServicesConduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations to determine eligibility for servicesPrepare Full and Individual Evaluations (FIEs) in accordance with state and district guidelinesDevelop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with communication impairmentsProvide individualized and small-group therapy aligned to student IEP goalsDeliver evidence-based therapy services that support academic successServe students in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)Monitor student progress and determine readiness for dismissal from services Collaboration & SupportParticipate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetingsCollaborate with classroom teachers to support communication development in academic settingsCommunicate effectively with families, staff, and students regarding progress and needsProvide professional learning to campus staff on recognizing communication impairmentsMaintain a safe, organized, and student-friendly therapy environment Program & ComplianceSupervise Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs), graduate students, and interns in accordance with TDLR regulationsMaintain required documentation, including: EvaluationsSession notesProgress reportsMedicaid billing documentationManage referral and evaluation databases for assigned campusesCollect and analyze data to support IEP development and service recommendationsAssist with selection of therapy equipment and instructional materialsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and district policies and procedures What You Bring Education & CredentialsMaster's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences & DisordersLicensed Speech-Language Pathologist through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) through ASHA (or ability to obtain)National Provider Identifier (NPI) number (or ability to obtain within 30 days) Skills & ExpertiseStrong knowledge of speech-language disorders and school-based service deliveryFamiliarity with ARD/IEP processes and special education complianceAbility to implement evidence-based therapy practicesStrong communication and collaboration skillsComputer literacy and experience with digital documentation systems Work Environment & ExpectationsDistrict-wide travel to multiple campuses as assignedOccasional evening or weekend school eventsFrequent keyboarding and documentationRegular walking, standing, bending, and reachingAbility to lift instructional materials and equipment Why Join Killeen ISD?Meaningful work supporting student successCollaborative campus teamsProfessional growth opportunitiesStable, mission-driven public education environment If you're ready to help students find their voice and thrive in school, apply today.
